This paper aims to present students with ideas, guidelines, and frameworks that can be used to write more effectively in an academic context. The paper aids students for whom English is an Additional Language practice the skills of reading, writing, and lexical development.

The weekly lectures and tutorials will be available to students in a face-to-face setting on campus in Hamilton. Students offshore and working remotely are able to join via Zoom.

Students are expected to attend the weekly lectures and tutorials. The paper is supported on­line via its Moodle page, which students must engage with regularly. Panopto and/or Zoom recordings of lectures will also be available to students via Moodle.

There is a required set of Course Readings to purchase which contain lecture materials. These can be purchased from Waikato Print on campus.

Assessments include in-class tests, online exercises, reading exercises and individual pieces of written work completed throughout the course. Full and complete details of all assessments will be available via Moodle throughout the trimester.
